School Days: Education in Victoria

“School Days: Education in Victoria” is a sentimental journey through the history of Victorian schooling. A fun, wistful and evocative space was created to celebrate and display the School Days treasures from the Public Record Office Victoria collection.

Working closely with the curator, a nostalgic colour palette and typographic approach is used in combination with a vast array of archival images. A secondary graphic device harking back to classroom blackboards creates as solid visual foundation for the school photos, stories, old text books and memorabilia on display.

The Tiger Trek begins…

After two and half years, we’re very excited to see our work on the new Tiger Trek precinct at Taronga Zoo launched.

With Ian Bracegirdle of Motherworks, at the helm of the project team, Nuttshell collaborated on the concept and creation of this brand new tiger precinct. From set dressing props to interpretative signage and wayfinding Nuttshell created all of the graphics to make this precinct come to life.

The Top Designs exhibition at Melbourne Museum is part of the annual VCE Season of Excellence. Nuttshell was approached by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority to create the 2017 VCE Season of Excellence brand and, as a part of this project, the Top Designs exhibition graphics.

Extending education into the wetlands

With a commitment to protecting and enhancing biodiversity throughout the municipality, the City of Stonnington has created a wildlife haven within the Glen Iris Wetlands. Nuttshell was approached to develop and produce an interactive and engaging signage program to extend education in the wetlands beyond the existing visitor centre.

Fresh and accessible reporting

The brief to revitalise Transdev’s Corporate Reports called for a fresher more accessible design. We responded with a light and playful design using white space, full colour imagery and a landscape layout to our advantage. The format of both Reports celebrates horizontal photography of long buses, trains and ferries, creating a synergy between content and design.

Heritage and integrity

The Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership is housed in a historic State School designed by the Government Architect Henry Bastow in the 1880’s. Nuttshell designed an elegant publication to tell the Bastow story.

With a creative brief to explore ’science’ in the newly designed school of sciences by Clarke Hopkins Clarke Architects, we took a collaborative approach with all stakeholders. The result is a fully integrated display that builds upon the foundations laid by the architects.
